The HTWK Robots at the modell-hobby-spiel exhibition in Leipzig

Over the weekend from September 29th to October 1st, we attended this year’s modell-hobby-spiel in our home town Leipzig. The exhibition was host to over 400 exhibitors including model aircraft builders, stamp collectors, robotics experts (like us!), arts and crafts (supplies) suppliers and many more.

We set up a robofootball field and demonstrated what our Naos are capable of, how we work with them and what's next for us and them. Especially our test games proved to be true audience magnets!

The fun really started, however, when we befriended the DMC (the german minicar club), our neighbors in the exhibition hall. Their remote controlled vehicles were worthy opponents for our robots which in turn played autonomously, as always.

While our Naos were significantly more agile, in terms of speed, on the other hand, we simply couldn’t keep up. The match was played 2 cars against 4 robots to even out the odds and ultimately, the DMC drove home the win. Make sure to also check out the DMC’s blog: https://dmc-online.com/wordpress/

The match attracted quite the crowd and we were able to talk to a lot of curious passers-by and maybe humbly brag about our successes and get people interested in joining our team. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the HTWK Robots!

We’re really happy about our time at the modell-hobby-spiel this year and would like to extend our thanks to modell-hobby-spiel for inviting us, it’s been a blast! If you’re interested in attending next year’s exhibition, check out their website. They already set up a countdown until the next date and provide much more information about this year’s event: https://www.modell-hobby-spiel.de/de/

We’d like to thank our sponsor Relaxdays for their amazing support over the past years. Without their support, we wouldn’t have been able to be the team that we are and stay at the top of the robofootball world. We’re looking forward to working with them again and are proud to wear their logo on our jerseys!
