Schedule for the LNDC

In less than 2 hours we will have a small tournament with the present teams. Here is the complete schedule:

Friday 29 April 2016

Lange Nacht der Computerspiele

Tomorrow we'll be part of the "Lange Nacht der Computerspiele" ("Long Night of Computer Games"), a great annual HTWK event. This time we're located inside the HTWK sports hall, which is a walk of 10 minutes away from the rest of the event. We've setup our field and the team area. Starting on saturday 15:00 we'll have friendly matches between us and our guests, the Bembelbots from Frankfurt, B-United from Berlin and Nao-Devils from Dortmund.

If you're in Leipzig, make sure to check us out to get a taste of things to come with the Robocup in June.

Impressions from Iran Part III: Isfahan

We used the last days of our trip to Iran to visit Isfahan - the country's third largest city which has also been the capital of Iran two times in it's history.

Our sightseeing tour started on Naghsh-e Jahan Square, the second largest city square of the world.

The Shah Mosque is directly located on Naghsh-e Jahan Square and gave us an impressive view of historical architecture and religion in Iran.

Isfahan's Grand Basar offers a big variety of goods and shops such as oriental spices and herbs, local hand crafts, carpet sellers and candy shops.

Impressions from Iran Part II: The City and the Food

Yesterday, we travelled the city by taxi and got a pretty frightening impression of the Iranian traffic and taxi drivers!

All around the city you can see political and military murals.

As a snack, we were offered plum in an extraordinary sour syrup.

On Milad tower, we got a stunning view of the huge city of Tehran surrounded by the Alborz mountains.

In the evening, we had dinner in an authentic restaurant with live music in the background!

We were served "Ab Goosht", a typical Iranian dish made from mutton, chick peas and Tomatoes along with Iranian flat bread, a green lettuce called "sabzi" and "Doogh" - an Iranian cold beverage made with yoghurt.

"Ab Goosht" or "Dizi" is served  in a hot pot from which the liquid parts are poured off first. Afterwards, a super-sized muddler is used to squash the remaining solid parts. This way, one gets two dishes out of one serving of "Ab Goosht" - a soup, which is typically eaten with flat bread, and a rich mash-like dish called "Goosht Koobideh".

We were even allowed to take a photo behind the bar and where pretty impressed by the huge metallic kettles which are used to prepare tea..

We finished the day with some tea and hubble-bubbles, which is how shishas are called in Iran.

Last day of the Iran Open 2016: The Finals and the cake

We just heard the referee's whistle of this year's Iran Open finals between Nao-Team HTWK and DAInamite. We won with a satisfying score of 4:0!

Last year, we made the mistake not to bring any cake after the last match, which is usually shared by the winning team in Iran. Therefore, we sent out Flo to get some delicious cake which we could share after the finals with all the teams, translators and volunteers. It was delicious!

Directly after the finals, the open challenge was held in which we showed the efforts we made to make the goal keeper pick up the ball:

Like every year, it was an awesome competition and we really enjoyed participating in it.

Videos

We have finally edited and uploaded the videos of the first two matches:

Nao-Team HTWK vs. MRL - 7:0

We managed to score a solid 7:0 against Iran Open's former vice-champion MRL from Qazvin.
Like in most matches before, our biggest advantage was our stable detection of the new black and white patterned ball, although MRL made some visible improvements during the competition.

Stay updated for the finals at 11:00 CEST against DAInamite.

Second Match, Interviews and a great Burger

On our third day, we finished our match against SRC SPL Team from Iran with a final score of 6:0.

We were afterwards asked to give a short interview with the national Iranian Broadcasting Station which followed a long list of several smaller interviews today and yesterday.

In addition to yesterday's post we have to show you a picture of an overwhelming burger we had yesterday evening in a small restaurant with a beautiful view of Tehran's skyline.

Impressions from Iran - Part 1: The Venue

We have taken some pictures of the venue and the surrounding areas:

Iranians obviously know how to find parking spots in crowded areas ;)

Don't get us wrong - Iranian food can be really mouth-watering. But during the last years we learned that only rice and chicken is served during the events....which can be quite monotonous after some days. So this time, we managed to get some sauces to accompany the meals. Best 12 € spent ever ;)

And, as a bonus, a picture of the Terminator:
